Storytelling and music concert featuring storyteller Bairbre McCarthy and musicians Frank Orsini, John Cromie, Mary and Patrick Willems. This concert will focus on Irish stories and music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. It marks the start of the annual summer Baroque Music Festival in Greenfield

14th annual Catskills Irish Arts Week, East Durham, NY, (one hour south of Albany)
One of the leading Irish Arts festivals in the country. Bairbre directs the children's program in the mornings and is joined by many talented musicians/teachers. This program offers students ages 5-12 a complete Irish experience in music, song, dance, stories, Irish language and drama and Gaelic games. Bairbre writes and produces a play in Irish that the children will perform at the Irish Music Festival on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the M.J. Quill Festival Grounds, East Durham, NY. The children's performance also showcases the Irish dances, songs and instrumental music that the children learn during their week of Irish cultural immersion.

Bairbre's afternoon class for adults:
Irish Mythology and Language, 1:30 - 3:00 pm
The three cycles of Irish mythology and early Irish history will be explored, including stories
of the legendary Queen Maeve of Connacht, and her battle against the Ulster hero Cúchulainn.
Stories of the Fenian cycle, the arrival of St. Patrick, up to the time of Brian Boru,
who led the Irish to defeat the Vikings in 1014AD.
Each session will begin with short conversational lessons in Irish (Gaelic)
language, suitable for all levels, but no experience required. Bairbre
has produced an instructional CD of easy Irish lessons for beginners
in response to difficulties students encountered with other methods.
This class is taught annually by Bairbre as part of the Catskills Irish Arts Week, in East Durham, NY
